Perfume Wars: Paco Rabanne Invictus vs Paco Rabanne 1 Million - whose the champ?

PERFUME WARS: Battle of the Fragrances

Invictus vs 1 Million

Invictus Review

In the blue-corner we have Paco Rabanne's 2013 release "Invictus". It was hard to follow up upon the success of the instant classic "1 Million" but Paco Rabanne did the unthinkable and did it with style creating INVICTUS.

The fragrance opens with fresh grapefruit and a marine accord that meshes well with the heart of aromatic bay leaf and Hedione jasmine. This is then followed by a woody base of guaiac wood, patchouli, oak moss and ambergris.

Top notes: Grapefruit Peel, Marine Accord
Heart notes: Bay Leaves
Base notes: Guaiac Wood, Patchouli, Amber Gris Accord

Once the fragrance settles down and cools off, the wearer is left with an overall woody & aquatic scent that is not overly abusive nor lacking in essence.

A survey of over 700 respondents voted the longevity of INVICTUS as "moderate" to "very long lasting" and its sillage/scent trail as "moderate" to "heavy". Invictus was mostly recommended as a Summer or Spring fragrance that is most suitable for daytime use.

Invictus is definitely a "masculine" smelling perfume that is warm yet fresh. In my personal experience wearing the fragrance, my opinion is that it is a great all-around perfume that works well in any situation. Whether it be for class, work or socializing, you cant go wrong by wearing Invictus.

1 Million Review

In the red-corner we have Paco Rabanne's classic 2008 release, "1 MILLION" fragrance for men

This is a multifaceted and harmonious fragrance with a high impact signature. It contains sexy blood orange, grapefruit, cinnamon, mint, rose, spices, light leather, white wood, patchouli and amber.

Top notes: Blood mandarin - Peppermint
Heart notes: Rose absolute - Cinnamon
Base notes: Leather accord - Amberketal

A survey taken with over 4700 respondents, the majority of reviewer's voted this fragrance's longevity as "long lasting" to "very long lasting" and its sillage (scent trail) as "heavy" to "enormous". 1 Million was mostly recommended as a Fall or Winter Fragrance for use at Night Time as opposed to daytime.

Initially the perfume is very potent and almost abuses the senses with an overly fruity smell. After the cooling off period, 1 Million by Paco Rabanne comes across as a woody and fresh spicy leather fragrance for men. In my personal experience wearing the fragrance I found it was an attention-getter, turning alot of heads with its lingering sillage.
